PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a pyridine compound by oxidizing a dihydropyridine compound which is less expensive and environmentally sound, and has highly suitable for manufacture. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a pyridine compound of general formula (II) [wherein, R1 to R5 are each independently H or a substituent] by oxidizing a dihydropyridine compound of general formula (I) [wherein, R1 to R5 are defined as in general formula (II); and L is a (substituted) alkyl, alkoxy, aryl or aryloxy group] in the presence of at least one kind of base and hydrogen peroxide solution.
