PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration-damping material exhibiting such excellent vibration-absorbing characteristics that a tangent of the loss angle is above 3, when the material is measured immediately after produced, and to provide a resin composition for the vibration-damping material. SOLUTION: This resin composition for the vibration-damping material is, for example, obtained by kneading 100 pts.wt. of a chlorinated polyethylene (having a chlorine content of 40 wt.%) and 250 pts.wt. of a chlorinated paraffin (having a chlorine content of 43 wt.% and an average number of carbon atoms of 25) with a roll mill. The vibration-damping material in a sheet form having a thickness of 1000μm is, for example, produced by pressing the resin composition at 120 deg.C.
