PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining pomegranate seeds having a reduced amount of arils attached which is suited in producing a pomegranate seed oil. SOLUTION: Dry pomegranate seeds with reduced amounts of arils and sugar attached which are suited in extracting or pressing the oil content in the seeds can be obtained by subjecting pomegranates, strained lees of a pomegranate juice, anardana or the like to chemical treatment, physical treatment, biological treatment or a combination thereof, and subsequently washing and drying the resulting seeds.
