PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing heat developable recording material, with which sheet property after applying and drying an image forming layer coating liquid and a protective layer coating liquid, is kept satisfactorily and high-speed coating is realized. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing the heat developable image recording material, having at least one image forming layer on a supporting body and at least one protective layer on the image forming layer, includes a stage for applying and drying the image-forming layer coating liquid and the protective layer coating liquid on the support body. The viscosity of the image forming layer coating liquid and that of the protective layer coating liquid at coating time on the condition that shearing speed be 0.1 s-1 at a temperature of 25 deg.C are both <=0.5 Pa.s, and the viscosity of the image-forming layer coating liquid and that of the protective layer coating liquid, having solid component density twice as high as at the coating time, on the condition that the shearing speed be 0.1 s-1 at a temperature of 25 deg.C are both >=1 Pa.s.
