PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image projected on a screen so that various kinds of aberration may be corrected as satisfactory as in the case the projecting lens is solely used, by constituting a wide converter lens so that a positive lens, at least one negative lens, a positive lens, a negative lens, and a positive doublet formed of a positive lens and a negative lens may be arranged in this order from a long conjugate length side, as for the about 0.8- power wider converter lens for a projecting lens. SOLUTION: The wide converter lens is attached to the long conjugate length side of the projecting lens for a liquid crystal projector in order to move a focal distance to a wide angle side, the converter lens is constituted by arranging the positive lens L1, the negative lenses L2 and L3, the positive meniscus lens L4 whose convex faces the long conjugate length side, the negative meniscus lens L5 whose concave faces the long conjugate length side, and the positive doublet constituted of the positive lens L6 and the negative lens L7 in this order from the long conjugate length side, and the lens is an afocal system as a whole.
