摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical branching device having small optical coupling loss even if radiant light from a light source has an intensity distribution which is in rotationally symmetric. SOLUTION: In the optical branching device 1 wherein radiant light 41 from the light source 11 is made incident on plural optical waveguides 31-3n and incident light 51-5n is wave guided by the optical waveguides 31-3n, the light source 11, plural optical waveguides 31-3n which are arranged in a predetermined position relative to the optical axis of the light source 11, and an optical branching element 2 having a diffraction surface 2b which is arranged between the light source 11 and incident ends of respective waveguides 31-3n are provided. Radiant light 41 form the light source 11 is branched into plural diffracted light 51-5n, is deflected so as to focus on incident ends of respective waveguides 31-3n and is exited by the diffraction surface 2b of the optical branching element 2.
