PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new topoisomerase inhibitor useful as a carcinostatic agent. SOLUTION: This topoisomerase inhibitor contains a nucleotide alkyl derivative represented by the formula (I) (wherein, R1 denotes a straight-chain or a branched chain alkyl group; and R2 denotes a purine base or a pyrimidine base). The inhibitor is useful as the carcinostatic agent.
