PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition for a coating, having improved storage stability and excellent various coating performances such as curability at a low temperature (<=80 deg.C), appearance of coating, adhesivity to various substrates, weather resistance, etc. SOLUTION: This resin composition for a coating is characterized in that the composition comprises a coating resin (A) composed of a hydroxy group- containing acrylic resin (P) which is copolymerized with a hydroxy group- containing unsaturated monomer (a), contains a hydroxy group at the side chain and has 500-80,000 number-average molecular weight, an epoxy group- containing acrylic resin (Q) which is copolymerized with an epoxy group- containing unsaturated monomer (b), contains an epoxy group at the side chain and has 500-80,000 number-average molecular weight and a curing agent (B) and the amount of the epoxy group-containing unsaturated monomer (b) contained in the coating resin (A) is <5.000 ppm.
