PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize shortening of the production time, simplifying of the production process, and improvement of the production efficiency in a production of an impermeable carbonaceous material. SOLUTION: The resin composition for the impermeable carbonaceous material is prepared from (A) a novolak phenol resin and (B) a compound having at least two ethylenic unsaturated double bonds. The composition is impregnated with a carbonaceous material and thereafter is cured, to obtain the impermeable carbonaceous material.
