PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a bead filler having a high modulus without reduction of breaking strength compared with a conventional bead filler. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for the bead filler and a pneumatic tire consisting of 100 pts.wt. of a rubber component, 5-40 pts.wt. of a phenolic thermosetting resin, 4-20 pts.wt. of hexamethylenetetramine to 100 pts.wt. of the phenolic thermosetting resin, and 10-80 pts.wt. of melamine derivatives relative to 100 pts.wt. of the phenolic thermosetting resin.
