Half-shell vessel manufacturing method and apparatus, used in a vehicle muffler

The method involves placing the prefabricated half shells (1,2) with their flat shell edges (3,4) together and welding in the area of the flat edges. The half shells have positioning cut-outs (5) in the flat edges and are brought together with the cut-outs aligned and positioned with shape-locking pins (6) before welding. The assembled and positioned half shells are clamped in a clamping arrangement with upper and lower jaws (7,8) before welding. Independent claims are also included for the following: a housing of half-shell construction for a motor vehicle sound damper and a clamp arrangement for manufacturing a housing.
