A method of forming box blanks 20 from a sheet comprises the steps of providing a frame for supporting and guiding the sheet, providing a punch means (38, figure 6) and cutting means (35, figure 6) mounted onto a carriage (34, figure 6) which is able to move transversely, controlling the cutting means to cut transverse slots 23 and the punching means to punch longitudinal slots to sever flaps 24 from the glue tab 27, controllably moving the sheet in a longitudinal direction and controlling the cutting means to cut transversely across the sheet thereby forming a blank with a set longitudinal dimension. Transverse and longitudinal creasing rollers (39 and 40, figure 6) may also be provided. Said rollers may mounted on the carriage and may be used to create crease lines 21 and 22 in the blank in longitudinal and transverse directions respectively. |
