PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving velocity fluctuation detector capable of detecting the fluctuation of the moving velocity of a moving body with desired accuracy, and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: As for the moving velocity fluctuation detector for detecting the fluctuation of the moving velocity of the moving body 4 by picking up the images of plural marks 15 arranged at prescribed intervals on the surface of the moving body 4 moving in a direction A by a CCD line sensor 17, sampling the outputted data by a prescribed sampling frequency and mutually comparing the arrangement patterns of the sampling data, provided that the average moving velocity of the moving body 4 is expressed by v [mm/s], the sampling frequency when the number of pixels of the CCD sensor 17 is expressed by N is controlled to be 4v[Hz], the visual field L [mm] of the CCD line sensor 17 is set so as to establish L<=0.0009N/4, and the maximum value of width of each mark 15 is expressed by w [mm] and the maximum value of a distance between respective marks 15 is expressed by p [mm], respective marks 15 are formed so as to satisfy 0.99L<2p+w<L. |
