COATED LOW-DENSITY PAPERBOARD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coated low-density paperboard having excellent gravure printability and line splitting resistance. SOLUTION: This low-density coated paperboard is obtained by putting at least two layers of paper stock to papermaking and then applying a pigment coating onto the surface layer of the resultant basal paper followed by drying and then calendering. This coated paperboard thus obtained is characterized by having a density of 0.50-0.79 g/cm3, Print-surf roughness (ISO 8791) of 0.6-1.1μm and air permeability (J. TAPPI No.5) of 500-10,000 s.
