PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the conventional problem that it is difficult from a technical aspect to improve the spot weldability of a hot-dip galvanized steel sheet while securing its excellent workability, i.e., sliding characteristics and flaking resistance. SOLUTION: In the hot-dip galvanized steel sheet having excellent spot weldability and press formability, the total amount of Al X(g/m2) in a plating layer and the coating weight W(g/m2) satisfy the inequality: 0.10<=X-0.0012W and also the ratio between IS (Al concentration in the surface layer of the plating layer) and IB (Al concentration in theη-phase of the plating layer), IS/IB, satisfy inequality 1.0<=IS/IB<=10. The method for manufacturing the hot-dip galvanized steel sheet having excellent spot weldability and press formability is also provided.
