PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a loop yarn simultaneously having a bulky property, resilience and soft feeling, and further excellent in stretching property, dimensional stability and process-passing property, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This loop yarn consists of a core yarn containing a polymethylene terephthalate and a sheath yarn consisting of a polyester is characterized by having >=250 fluffs/m number of loop fluffs having >=0.35 mm fluff length among the loop fluffs formed on its surface part, and also satisfying the following formulae after stretching by 20% and removing its load. Y value (intertwinement symmetry) >=20 DLmax <=20 mm, Wherein, Y value: the number of intertwinements per 1 m/DLmax DLmax: the maximum length (mm) of non-intertwined part per 1 m.
