PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pad holding member for a disc brake capable of preventing a brake squeal caused by rotation within a recess of the pad holding member for the disc brake and preventing brake drag caused by the sliding contact between a friction pad and a disc rotor after braking operation is finished. SOLUTION: This pad holding member smoothly moving in the axial direction of a pad is composed of a base part 41a mounted on a recess 32 so as to interpose between a top surface 32a and a tip surface 32b of a projection part 32 and the recess 12; a first energizing part 41b extending from the base part 41a and energizing the projection part 32 in the circumferential direction; a second energizing part 41c extending from the first energizing part 41b and energizing the projection part 32 in the outside direction of the radius direction; and a third energizing part 41d extending from the base part 41a to the outside direction in the radius direction, contacting with a member of a pressing means, causing a counterclockwise couple in the base part 41a by a reaction force of the contact, and balancing it with clockwise couples caused by the first and second energizing forces.
