PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a defective transfer or defective fixing while improving the use efficiency of thermal energy in an image forming apparatus fixing a toner image at the same time when the toner image on an intermediate transfer body is transferred on a recording medium or a fixing device using a heated fixing belt. SOLUTION: The intermediate transfer body 5 is spread on a rigidly mounted pressure unit 11 (transfer fixing device), a drive roll 9 and a support roll 10, and driven circularly. The pressure unit has a fixed pad 21 which presses a pressure roll 13 through the intermediate transfer body and a waving suppression member 22 consisting of a thin heat resistant resin film at an upstream side. The pressure unit nips the recording medium P between the intermediate transfer body and the pressure roll, and pressurizes the recording medium P. An electromagnetic induction heating apparatus 12 is provided at the upstream side of the pressure unit to make the electrically conductive layer of the intermediate transfer body generate heat, and to melt the toner image on the intermediate transfer body. The heated intermediate transfer body appressed to the waving suppression member is moved and press-brought into contact with the recording medium without causing a crease.
