CATALYST FOR STEREOREGULAR POLYMERIZATION OF alpha-OLEFIN AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING STEREOREGULAR alpha-OLEFIN POLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a single-site catalyst for stereoregular polymerization of anα-olefin capable of providing a polymer having a uniform polymer particle diameter when the single- site catalyst is applied to polymerization (e.g. slurry polymerization, vapor-phase polymerization or bulk polymerization) accompanying the formation ofα-olefin polymer particles and to provide a method for producing the stereoregularα-olefin polymer capable of providing the polymer having the uniform polymer particle diameter when the catalyst is used and applied to the polymerization (e.g. the slurry polymerization, vapor-phase polymerization or bulk polymerization) accompanying the formation of theα-olefin polymer particles. SOLUTION: This catalyst for stereoregular polymerization of theα-olefin is obtained by bringing (A) modified particles prepared by binging (a) dried particles into contact with (b) an organometallic compound and then bringing the resultant product into contact with (c) a compound having a functional group having an active hydrogen or a proton-nondonating Lewis basic functional group and an electron attractive group into contact with (B) a transition metal compound having the stereoregular polymerizability for theα-olefin or bringing the particles (A) into contact with the transition metal compound (B) and (C) an organometallic compound. The method for producing the stereoregularα-olefin polymer uses the catalyst for polymerizing theα-olefin.
