PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an application type thermally insulative material that can readily form coated layers of thermal insulation of high durability on the outer wall faces or the interior wall faces or the like. SOLUTION: The objective application type thermally insulative material comprises sodium aluminosilicate glass, the pigment (titanium oxide), a resin emulsion, a dispersant and an adhesive. The sodium aluminosilicate glass has a hollow bead structure with a particle size of 10-50μm and the content is 10-20 wt.% based on the total weight of the insulative material. In an embodiment, the sodium aluminosilicate glass of the hollow bead structure having the air layer is commercially available [for example, the product of the trade name of XOL-200 (produced by PQ co-operation)]. The insulation layer of 0.8 mm thickness on the dry basis gives a thermal conductivity of about 0.03-0.05.
