PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition whose flame retardance has achieved at a high level with a halogen-free flame retardant. SOLUTION: This flame retardant resin composition comprising (A) a thermoplastic resin (such as a polyester-based resin) and (B) a flame retardant, characterized in that (B) the flame retardant comprises (B1) a polyphenylene oxide- based resin, (B2) a phosphate (such as a condensed phosphate), and (B3) a polyphosphamide. (B3) The polyphosphamide may be a condensate obtained by heating phosphoric acid and a cyanamide derivative having at least one amino group in the presence of at least one of urea and urea phosphate. The flame retardant is added in an amount of, for example, 10 to 300 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of (A) the thermoplastic resin.
