PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a band plate winding unit capable of winding a coil to be wound to the maximum outer circumferential section by aligning the side edge of the coil to be wound. SOLUTION: A winding unit for the band plate comprises an edge position control device 10 which transfers a scroll 5 of the coil to be wound in the axial direction through the tuning to the edge position by detecting the edge position of a running metal band plate S, a snubber roll unit 20 having a snubber roll 23 to fix the band plate on the surface of the winding coil so as not to slacken the tail end of the band plate during winding, and a tuning means to transfer the snubber roll unit 20 by attuning the coil scroll 5. The tuning means is a control device to synchronize a connecting arm 30 to connect a movable base 12 of the edge position control device 10, and a movable base 22 of the snubber roll unit 20 or a hydraulic cylinder 31 to reciprocate the movable base 22 and a hydraulic cylinder 15 for the movable base 12 on the side of the edge position control device.
