PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently restart a recording operation when the previous recording operation is not adequately completed. SOLUTION: There is disclosed a recording system that comprises a recorder which is so constituted that the recording is executed according to recording information received through a first communication means while a user moves a recording head on a recording medium and a host device that transmits the recording information to the recorder through a second communication means. Information relating to a log of the recording operation is stored to both of a first storing means of the recorder and a second storing means of the host device and the log information stored in the first and second storing means is controlled by the host device. In the case where, for example, the log in the recorder differs from that in the host device because of cutting of the communication in the way of the recording operation or the like, the log in the recorder is rewritten (S556-S563) so that the next recording operation can be adequately executed.
