PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which it is possible to erase an image of a printing plate removed from the plate cylinder of a printer in a very short time outside the printer and set the printing plate back again at the printer by treating the image of the printing plate to which the image is reimpartable with the help of a liquid or gaseous cleaning medium as well as a device using the method. SOLUTION: The method is characterized in that the printing plate (36) is treated with the help of a liquid or gaseous cleaning medium (42) and especially the image of the printing plate (36) to which the image is reimpartable, clear of printing ink by washing, is treated with the help of the cleaning medium. In addition, the method uses the device (44) which supplied the liquid or gaseous cleaning medium (42) to the printing plate (36). Especially the device treats the image of the printing plate (36) which is clear of the printing ink by washing with the help of the cleaning medium.
