PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide wire for welding having stably feedable properties which is satisfactorily feedable in a power feeding tip and a spring liner and does not slip at a feed roller in spite of not plated with copper. SOLUTION: In this wire for welding, carbon in which the angle of diffraction 2θof the X-ray diffraction peak equivalent to the (002) diffraction ray of graphite lies in the range of 24.0 to 26.5 deg., and the half-value width of the above X-ray diffraction peak is >=2.0 deg. is present on the surface of the wire and/or directly below the surface, when CuKαis used as a radiation source.
