PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder in which ink mist generated from a recording head, and the like, can be prevented from adhering to a circuit board. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder comprises a recording head having nozzle openings for ejecting ink drops, and a carriage 3 for mounting the recording head. An opening 37 for exposing the nozzle face of the recording head is made in the carriage 3 and the part of the recording head, except the nozzle face exposed through the opening 37, is covered with a carriage 3, a flange part 36 and a cover member 25. Even if ink mist is generated by ejecting a small ink drop or by splashing ink through wiping, the ink mist is intercepted by the flange part 36 or the cover member 25 and scarcely spread to the upper side of the recording head. Consequently, ink is prevented from adhering to a circuit board 34, and an accident, e.g. smoking or firing, can be prevented.
