PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a writing fault of an electrostatic latent image generated by adhering a transferring residual developer to a charged writing electrode. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises a base elastically contacted on an image carrier, and the writing electrode provided on the base to form the latent image on the carrier. When a non-image region is written with an image carrier potential of an upstream side of the writing electrode as a reference, a periodically changing voltage of a reverse polarity to that of a writing bias is applied to discharge a developer attracted to the writing electrode to the carrier. |
