PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for printing up to the end part of a print sheet without hitting an ink drop against a platen by means of a dot printer recording dots on the surface of a print medium using a dot recording head provide with a plurality of dot forming elements ejecting ink drops. SOLUTION: A region R being ejected with ink drops for imaging is set while exceeding over the end of a print sheet P. Each pixel of outer upper end part Rfp being set over the upper end Pf is recorded only with a nozzle facing the downstream side groove of a platen. Inner end part Rfq located on the downstream side of the outer upper end part Rfp is also recorded with a nozzle facing the downstream side groove. At the time of recording a dot, no margin appears at the end part of the print sheet even if the print sheet P is shifted from an expected position so long as the upper end of the print sheet P falls within the outer upper end part Rfp or the inner end part Rfq and no ink drop hit the platen. The outer upper end part Rfp and the inner end part Rfq are set to have a substantially identical dimension in the sub-scanning direction even if the recording density or recording system of image is different so long as the dimensions and material of the print sheet for forming an image are identical. |
