PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microorganism which exhibits a growth-retarding action and can retard the growth of Solidago serotina to maintain its grass height low over a long period. SOLUTION: A microorganism belonging to the genus Bacillus, such as Bacillus licheniformis No.217-5 (FERM P-18052), which exhibits a growth-retarding action against Solidago serotina.
