PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the simple constitution of a seat device capable of performing a lock releasing operation without influence of a load applied at the forward falling time of a backrest and excellent in operability and durability. SOLUTION: This seat device has a base arranged on the lower arm side, a ratchet fixed to an upper arm and rotatably supported by the base so as to rotate the upper arm to a forward falling position and a rising position to a lower arm, a lock recessed part formed in the ratchet, a lock pin engageable with and disengageable from this lock recessed part and regulating a rotational movement of the ratchet by engaging with the lock recessed part in the forward falling position, an energizing means for energizing this lock pin in the engaging direction with the lock recessed part, a lock releasing operation member moving the lock pin to an unengaging position with the lock recessed part against the energizing means and operable from the outside and a stopper part arranged on the base and deciding the forward falling position of the upper arm by regulating the rotational movement of the ratchet separately from the engaging relationship of the lock recessed part and the lock pin by abutting to the ratchet by rotary operation to the forward falling position from a rising position. The lock recessed part and the lock pin are mutually formed in a noncontact state when deciding the forward falling position of the upper arm by the stopper part.
