PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a light metal material by elastic working with high productivity and industrially, suitable in particular for forging a thin formed article, small in chamfering size or radius of curvature, and having a complicated shape such as a partially thick step or a protrusion. SOLUTION: The method is characterized by having a process of applying a lubricant containing a molybdenum disulfide and graphite on at least one part of a surface of the light metal material, and a process of plastic working the material.
