IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a density unevenness of each pixel and a deterioration of a drum by enabling a correction of light emitting characteristics of each laser in an image forming apparatus using a surface emitting laser array. SOLUTION: A plurality of laser beams are emitted from an exposure controller 10 on a photosensitive member 11 so that drive currents of the respective lasers are variably controlled. The laser beam is detected in a state in which the laser beam to the member 11 is shut off at the time except when an image is formed. Its detected data is stored. The laser is driven based on the stored data and an input image signal in a state in which the laser beam to the member is not shut off during image forming.
