PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil holding member for an oil coating roller, which does not allow remaining of oil in the oil holding member and to provide an oil coating roller using the oil holding member. SOLUTION: The oil holding member 16 for the oil coating roller is composed of an inorganic fiber, an inorganic binder solid material and inorganic particles to be blended if need and is a porous oil holding member 16 for the oil coating roller, which has pores formed by burning a particulate organic material blended as a raw material and a gap among fibers, which is formed as a void among the fibers, and has a multilayer uniaxial structure and at least one of the average pore diameter of the pores existing in the layer and the average fine hole diameter of the gap among the fiber is decreased as the layer is closely positioned to the outer peripheral surface.
