PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new visualization device and method for visualizing data on medical invasion into a patient. SOLUTION: This visualization device projects the data on a position and a direction of a surgical instrument 5 led into a patient's body as a geometric pattern and projects the distance from the surface 8 of the patient's body as a change in size or color of the pattern, upon the surface 8 of the patient's body. The visualization method concerns a method for projecting the data upon the surface 8 of the patient's body.
