PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for cleaning nozzles of an ink jet printer, and a printing head having the device incorporated, in which all of an appropriate operation of the printing head and necessary operations are carried out by a simple and inexpensive system of spraying a solvent to outer faces of the nozzles simultaneously with scrubbing to remove residues from a region of the periphery of the nozzles, and drying perfectly to remove all of the solvent. SOLUTION: The printing head has a cleaning jet 22 set to the downstream side of the ink nozzle 18 to be cleaned. The cleaning jet 22 is offset sideways of the nozzle and fixed. When jetting ink stops, a predetermined quantity of the solvent is sprayed by the cleaning jet and hits the nozzle 18 at a predetermined angle. In this way, a front face of a droplet generator is cleaned and scoured, and ink residues are discharged towards an opposite side 36 of a housing. Then, a dry compressed air is blown towards the ink nozzle 18 through the cleaning jet, drying a front part of the nozzle and adhering ink residues to the side part 36 of the housing.
