PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method by which the upheaval or the hollow on molten steel surface caused by biased flow of molten steel in a mold due to the clogging of a nozzle is prevented to obtain a cast slab excellent in the surface quality. SOLUTION: In the continuous casting method, the molten steel is supplied into the mold from a tundish by using the immersion nozzle 2 having two spouting holes opened in the short side direction of the mold 1 and the cast slab having the rectangular cross section is cast. In each of both sides holding the immersion nozzle in the mold, the flow rate of the molten steel is measured at plural positions, and maximum flow rates at the respective sides are obtained and electromagnetic force generators 7 disposed at the outer walls of the long sides in the mold are operated so that the difference between these maximum flow rates becomes within 5 cm/s to control the fluidity of the molten steel in the mold.
