PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooking apparatus to effect boiling cooking well. SOLUTION: The cooking apparatus comprises a heat source 23; a temperature detecting means 2 to detect the temperature of a body to be heated, being heated by the heat source 23; a quantity of heat control means 33 to control the thermal power of the heat source; and a drive control part 58 to control a thermal power by driving the heat source. The drive control part detects the degree of the increase of the temperature of the temperature detecting means and automatically switches from a high thermal power to a boiling thermal power, different in time distribution of a high thermal power and a low thermal power, so that boiling overflow hardly occurs. When temperature reaches a given value before boiling, heating to automatically repeat a high thermal power and a low thermal power is effected and boiling overflow hardly occurs.
