PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a fusion loss of a particulate filter and generation of a crack according to an excessive temperature rise of the particulate filter while impeding deposition of particulates in a partition of the particulate filter. SOLUTION: Particulates temporarily captured by a particulate filter 22 arranged in an exhaust pipe 20 are oxidized by active oxygen as a particulate oxidation promoting component, to make exhaust gas able to pass through the particulate filter 22 alternately from one side and the other side thereof by an exhaust switching valve 73, switching is permitted when a temperature TF of the particulate filter is a prescribed threshold value TF1 or less in the prescribed timing of the switching of the exhaust switching valve 73, the switching is inhibited when the temperature TF of the particulate filter is higher than the threshold value TF1 even in the timing of the switching of the exhaust switching valve 73.
