PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device where an alignment layer will not be deteriorated due to UV rays in the process of manufacture or after the manufacture. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal device, a first and a second substrates 10 and 20 disposed opposite are stuck to each other via a sealing material 30, and a liquid crystal 41 are packed in a cell 40 enclosed by the sealing material between the substrates via an opening part 31. Alignment layers 11 and 21 are formed on the sides, facing the liquid crystal of the substrates 10 and 20, respectively, and a UV-shielding film 50 covering at least the alignment layers 11 and 12 is formed on the first substrate 10.
