PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely operate a secondary side of a protection circuit in an overloaded or a short-circuited condition of its load. SOLUTION: This switching regulator power supply device is provided with a protection circuit which includes a thermal switch 16 which outputs a protective operation signal to its control circuit by detecting the overloaded or the short-circuited condition of the load and a choke sub-winding 15 which operates the protection circuit by generating a voltage proportional to its winding ratio to a constant voltage which is putted to a choke coil 8.
