PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve device self-containing a function of a gate valve. SOLUTION: In the valve device in which a valve element 11 is sealingly slided at the inside 1 of a casing to carry out an open/close, a cylinder for accommodating and sliding the valve element can be optionally moved. The moved cylinder surrounds a valve seat 5 to which the valve element is abutted at a periphery of the valve element. Thereby, a fluid arriving at the valve seat is completely shielded in no relation to a state of the valve element and the valve seat.
