PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a further precise inspection by performing the quality inspection of a printed character and also the inspection of a bright defect. SOLUTION: A square image is cut from the image of a tablet 4 packaged with a packaging material 1 having at least one substantially transparent surface by pattern matching with a preliminarily registered circumscribing square pattern of tablet, and a mask image is applied to the cut square image to cut the image of an area estimated as a character part. The contrast histogram of this image is calculated, and it is judged whether the imaged surface of the tablet is a character surface or not by judging whether a distribution corresponding to a character distribution is present in the calculated contrast histogram. When the imaged surface of the tablet is the character surface, the character distribution in the calculated contrast histogram is compared with a preliminarily registered distribution of normal character, and it is judged that the character of the character surface is normal when they have a correlation of a regulated value or more. |
