PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling video peaking processing for a video display device that can be operated to simultaneously display a 1st signal (Ymain) and a 2nd signal (Ypip). SOLUTION: The method of this invention includes a step where the 1st and 2nd signals are composited to form a simultaneous display signal (301) and a step where the video peaking processing is independently controlled depending on each of the 1st signal and 2nd signal composited to form the simultaneous display signal.
