<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an internal combustion engine in an outboard engine and maintain appreciable riding comfort on a hull even if the internal combustion engine emits intake noise when driven. SOLUTION: An outboard engine 5 comprises a propeller driving internal combustion engine 10 supported at the rear of a hull. The internal combustion engine 10 comprises a cylinder group including a plurality of cylinders, a plurality of intake pipes 31 extending in an interspaced, substantially parallel relation from the cylinders, a silencer 33 interconnecting the extended ends of the intake pipes 31, and intake pipe extensions 34 extending from the silencer 33. The internal spaces of the intake pipes 31, the silencer 33 and the intake pipe extensions 34 are interconnecting intake passages 35, and the extended ends of the intake pipe extensions 34 are air intake openings 36 through which the intake passages 35 open to the atmosphere. The intake pipe extensions 34 are disposed in the space between the intake pipes 31. The air intake openings 36 open toward the rear of the hull.</p> |
