PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission capable of increasing the fixing strength of a third wire to each power roller supporting member without resulting in a large-sized construction or generating a play between the power roller supporting members in the diagonal positions. SOLUTION: The wire member to couple together four trunnions 17a, 17b, 27a, 27b by setting around for synchronizing the tilting angles of four power rollers is formed of a first wire 7 and a second wire 8 set around like a figure eight on the left trunnions 17a and 17b and right ones 27a and 27b, and a third wire 9 going around the perimeter of all trunnions 17a, 17b, 27a, 27b and fixed to those 17b and 27a located in two diagonal positions. In the position of the left-right tensioned wire part of the third wire 9, guide walls 21 and 21 are provided to bend the wire part in such a direction as increasing the wire winding angle on the diagonally positioned two trunnions 17b and 27a whereto the third wire 9 is fixed.
