The fire practice installation unit has a gas burner (5) placed in container (4) filled with water, and focussing at an electrode (6). Unit sets up hydrocarbon-based fire. Electrode starts exercise by lighting flame. Electrode is then moved away from gas burner, using pneumatic actuator (7). Flame extinction is controlled by UV sensors.
