PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem where sounds generated by hammering the outer wall of a rotary kiln is noisy and complete removal is not always accomplished, when the outer wall of the kiln is hammered in order to discharge matters adhering on the wall, when metallic powders in particular are apt to adhere on the inner wall of the kiln and when a powder is heat-treated in the rotary kiln. SOLUTION: A filter 9 for scraping balls are constituted by spanning a plurality of round steel rods 10 from an upper end of a gutter 7 in the kiln 3, in such a manner as to form an obtuse angle with a pitch which does not permit scraping balls 1 to pass through and welding the steel rods 10 on an outlet wall 8.
