LINER FOR INSERT AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING CYLINDER BLOCK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liner for insert hardly cracking in the main body of a cylinder block when used in the cylinder block in which the distance between cylinder bores is short, and to provide a method of manufacturing the cylinder block using the liner for insert. SOLUTION: The liner 1 for insert is used as a cylinder liner of the cylinder block in which plural cylinders are mounted in a row. The liner 1 has a number of prickles 11 extending from the outer surface, and a part 21 without prickles 11 is formed between cylinder bores of the cylinder block. The method of manufacturing the cylinder block includes the following processes; manufacturing the liner 1 for insert by removing prickles 11 located between original liners while the plural original liners with a number of prickles 11 extending from the whole outer surface are held as arranged in a row, attaching the liner 1 for insert to a mold with the original liners held as arranged in a row, and inserting the liner 1 by the die-cast method.
