摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent protruding parts of electrodes protruding from an effective display region from being faintly lighted up through voltage application in a liquid crystal display device with construction, in which the pitch of wiring lines is short and the wiring lines are packed. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 1 comprises a liquid crystal, held between a pair of substrates 3a, 3b, on which electrodes 9a, 9b and alignment layers are formed respectively and forms an image inside the effective display region D. The electrodes 9a, 9b are provided with the protruding parts of the electrodes 17a, 17b protruding to the outside of the effective display region D. The angles of the protruding parts of the electrodes 17a vary, depending on a direction of rubbing Ra imparted to an alignment layer arranged on the substrate 3a, on which the protruding parts of the electrodes 17a are formed. Alternatively, relative angles of the protruding parts of the electrodes 17a with respect to the direction of the rubbing Ra are set at 0 deg.±20 deg. or 90 deg.±20 deg.. Or the relative angles of the protruding parts of the electrodes 17a, with respect to the direction of the rubbing Ra, are set to be in a range outside of 45 deg.±20 deg. angular range.
