PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing unit such as a PC the utilizing scope of which is extended and which enhances remote control operability for electronic devices and the performance of a remote controller. SOLUTION: An infrared ray controller 44 is connected to a CPU 12 of a PC body 10 via an ECKBC(embedded controller-key board controller) 42. A rewritable ROM 52, a light emitting section 54, an operation light receiving section 56, and a learning purpose light receiving section 58 are connected to a controller section 50 of the infrared ray controller 44. The light emitting section 54 is used only to transmit an infrared ray signal for remote control to external electronic devices. The operation light receiving section 56 is used to receive the infrared ray signal from an external remote controller for remote control of an internal circuit of the PC body 10. The learning purpose light receiving section 58 is used to learn a light emission pattern of the remote control infrared ray signal for external electronic devices that are not registered.
